Overview

Earth is dead, but the Solar System is teeming with life. Lost and alone, an ex-Martian returns from the edge of the system to find themself a new home. Through ancient technology, they begin broadcasting a radio show to no-one in particular, reminding themselves of where they’ve come from and where they’re going.

About "Wish i was there"

'Wish i was there' is a one-person play developed in Kirikiriroa Hamilton at the Meteor theatre's 'Boil Up' programme. Written and Performed by local non-binary creative James Smith, the play is an sci-fi exploration of identity, written through the lens of James' own experience of coming to understand themself and their gender identity. 'wish i was there' is lucky to have the chance to premiere at BATS Theatre in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington.

But that's where we need help!

Getting from Kirikiriroa to Te Whanagnui-a-Tara costs money, and with James (and their theatre company Infinite Monkey) being at the start of their journey, the bank is a little dry.

The money that this campaign will raise will go towards things like:

- Hiring a van to get us from one end of the North Island to the other

- Accommodation costs

- Hiring lighting and sound gear

- Marketing costs (posters and social media)

- and re-building the set from our development showing

Plus, we're looking at other dates around the country, so any other funds that can go towards us touring around Aotearoa would no doubt be hugely appreciated

“... A BRILLIANTLY CONCEIVED, OCCASIONALLY HILARIOUS AND WELL-REALISED PLAY... AN AMAZINGLY GOOD CONCEPT HERE, AND SOME FASCINATING SCIENCE FICTION”
