PLAY! A humorous Online Dance performance
Antonio Bukhar Ssebuuma | Dance
Overview
Antonio is an all-round performing artist majoring in dance and is the former Caroline Plummer fellow in community dance 2019 at the University of Otago.
When Aotearoa went into level 4 lockdown Antonio began to devise Play; a production that engages with the necessity of an adaptable, multifaceted approach to performance and [stage-art] during and after the Covid-19 Lockdown. With this global crisis, a need for creatives to find new and unfamiliar outlets for viewing and performing has been established. When a theatre, gallery and shared performance space is no longer available, how do we share our unique works with the world.
Play is a site-specific creation looking at our cribs as playgrounds, to keep us engaged with our home spaces during and after the lockdown. This solo act exhibits Antonio Bukhar’s versatility in dance styles and enormous choreography experience echoing the need to adapt and move through the changing times of our planet. He incorporates breakdance, contemporary, hip-hop, Ugandan traditional movements, dancehall, and afro-fusion.
The funds raised will go towards paying for basic equipment and the videographer.
