What is Boosted X Moana?

Boosted X Moana is a crowdfunding programme tailored to support Pasifika creatives. It’s a partnership between the Creative New Zealand Pacific strategy team and The Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi, offering both match funding and mentorship to help bring Pacific-led arts projects to life.

The Vision (2023–2028)

Boosted X Moana supports the vision of Creative New Zealand’s Pacific Arts Strategy to see strong, passionate, and resilient Pacific arts thriving across Aotearoa, throughout Te Moana Nui a Kiwa, and on the global stage.

What We've Achieved so far (2020–2024)

Over the past five years, Boosted X Moana has proven its impact:

• 11 Pasifika arts projects successfully funded
• Over $1,000,000 raised, including:
  •  $493,112.28 from public donations
  • $ 997,000 in match funding
• 6,905 individual donations made

This success shows that the model works and it's only growing stronger in our newest iteration in 2025.

What’s New in 2025?

Boosted X Moana is evolving to create even more opportunities for Pasifika artists:

Four Funding Cohorts Across the Year

• Each cohort will support 10 projects
• Each selected project will receive $3,000 in match funding from Creative New Zealand’s Pacific Arts Strategy
• Priority will be given to projects that are:
  • Travelling internationally to showcase their work
  • Invited to attend international arts festivals

Cohort Dates for 2025

Cohort 1: March 10 – April 10 (Closed)
Cohort 2: May 28 – June 28 (Closed)

Cohort 3: August 11 – September 11

• Registrations open: July 7
• Registrations close: July 19

Cohort 4: October 28 – November 28

• Registrations open: September 22
• Registrations close: October 4
