Way of the Raukura Season 2: Professional Sound Mixing of Recording
Toitoi Collective Theatre Company | Theatre
Overview
Sold out in its first season,The Way of the Raukura was recently performed at Auckland’s Bruce Mason Centre to standing ovations and requests to perform the show across the country.
The show has been popular with Māori and non-Māori alike. Feedback from school groups has been overwhelming, as this dramatic telling of the story brings to life an important new part of the secondary school education syllabus. The quality of acting and singing is high, the music is dramatic and the story and script are well researched and engaging. Written permission was granted for the performing of this show by Parihaka's Papakainga Trust.
Co-creators and founders of Toitoi Collective Theatre, Steve Worsley and Sarah Tahere say, ‘Since its inception it has been our dream to perform The Way of the Raukura in Taranaki – the place where the story itself happened.’ With a cast of over 40 (half play Māori characters and half play Pākehā characters), a seven piece band, plus tech, backstage and production crew, we need funding in order to perform this show again – whether in Auckland, or in other centres.
This Funding Project
We are seeking a minimum of 7.5K to cover the post-production work on the video of our Bruce Mason performances. We need this work done in order to create promotional videos to enable further performing of this show.
Our Bruce Mason performances were professionally filmed, but the audio needs to be properly mixed and edited. While Way of the Raukura performances have been incredibly well received, professional quality video and audio of our show is vital to the future of this show in order to demonstrate its quality to likely funders and promoters.
