Wairua
Ruaimoko Charitable Trust | Dance
Overview
Over three years in the devising, we are excited to finally be performing Wairua at the Dunedin Arts Festival in April 2021.
The performance blends original waiata and taonga pūoro with projections and surreal dark lighting states to create an experiential, intuitive and spiritual journey within, into the primal state of Nothingness. With choreography and dance by Louise Potiki-Bryant and Taiaroa Royal, taonga pūoro and original waitata by Ariana Tikao and Alistair Fraser, and sound design by Paddy Free, Wairua is a visceral experience -- it will be felt in your very being.
We need your help!
As with many of our fellow artists, we are still experiencing the financial flow-on effects from COVID. Cancelled performances and limited funding opportunities have left us in a tight spot.
Why you're needed
We need to accommodate our talented choreographers, dancers and performers who are coming from various locations within New Zealand to join us in Ōtepoti for rehearsals and performance.
With your help, we hope to raise $3,000 to put our wonderful cast up for the month that they will be in Dunedin for rehearsals and performance.
How you can help
You can help us extend manaakitanga to the artists and performers who have been developing Wairua over the past three years, by making a small contribution to assist with their accommodation costs.
Consider a donation of $25 or $50 – any amount will make a big difference!
What you will get
Aside from our eternal gratitude, we will share our rehearsal journey with you via regular updates and insider insights!
