Time On My Hands - Heavy Chest
Heavy Chest | Film
Overview
Heavy Chest has made some significant waves in the music scene in New Zealand with their last two releases, 'Pre-Heat' & 'Home Turf.' We're looking to crowd-fund the next music video which has brought together a healthy roster of native talent and creatives, ready to make this happen. Projects like resource local creative talent to be supported not just locally but globally - we would love you to partner with us.
A bit about the song:
Time On My Hands is a single by Heavy Chest recorded in 2018 by Andre Smith & James Erwin. The song focusses on what happens in your brain when you have every intention but no direction, too much time on your hands leading to uncontrolled thoughts and emotions. The social pressures of being comfortable alone and not surrounding yourself with people in order to feel validated.
A bit about the music video:
The film takes us on a slightly surreal, introspective journey of Eva who all of us at one or many moments in our lives can relate to. We're placed in her world and are exposed to these short relatable snapshots that examine her relationships with others and her journey of curiosity - which starts out with a weekend away with her boyfriend and his parents and progresses into something altogether more unusual...
The team:
Our crew is a compact unit of great folks. Director Josiah Watson will be working with DOP Bill Bycroft who will be assisted by Alice Toomer. The producer and cracker of whips is Raphaella Holder-Monk. Production Design, Art Direction & styling by Grace Watson. Additional crew such as AC's/grips/gaffers will be brought on with the funds we look to raise.
About the team:
Andre Smith & Heavy Chest are a four-piece band born in Auckland and brought together in the thriving Wellington music scene. Relaxed alt-rock songs written by frontman Andre Smith are brought to life by Joseph Shepheard (bass) Samuel Morgan (guitar/vocals) and Josh Brown (drums) delivering a powerful live sound. After a string of shows in summer 2017/2018 followed by a short stint in Europe Heavy Chest have returned to the shores of New Zealand and continue to spread their positive vibe.
Director Josiah Watson is a Wellington native who has been working in commercial, documentary and scripted-content for the past 3 years. His work is defined by its paired-back, naturalistic approach to storytelling and accompanied by beautiful, engaging visuals. When he's not working on moving pictures, he's taking pictures that don't move... or skateboarding.
DOP Bill Bycroft has spent years in the industry behind the camera and as an AC working in commercials and music videos. He's stacked up some stellar work along the way - we're stoked to have him adding his skill and vision to the project.
How can you help?
Helping is simple! You can help by donating what you can to this project - any donations are hugely appreciated. You can also share the link on whichever social media platform takes your fancy! Even if we have 400 people donate $10 each, then we'd be away!
Where is this money going?
This funding will enable us to pay for industry-standard gear and the right crew to assist in the production of the film. This will also cover pre and post-production expenses such as, production design, sound mixing, and color-grading not to mention the generous support of Rocket Rentals who will be the camera house we're hiring from in Wellington.
Thank you for your support!
Andre, Josiah & the team.
