The Way to Paradise

Harold Anderson is an American Kiwi, an outstanding composer and jazz bassist who was taught by John Coltrane's bass and is an Otago University Mozart Fellow. In 2015 he saw Ewan McDougall's Wallace Awards Finalist The Way To Paradise and was inspired to read the big oil painting as a jazz/classical score.

[UPDATE August 1] Due to unexpected complications beyond our control the Wellington concert is unfortunately no longer possible but this world premiere composition will still be performed by Mike Nock and Harold Anderson along with other elite jazz musicians and friends including members of the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra in Dunedin and members from the Auckland Chamber Orchestra in Auckland.

10th October - The Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Dunedin, 6pm
21st October - The Pah Homestead, Auckland, 6.30pm

Ewan's vibrant painting will be exhibited in each venue.

We need to fund Mike Nock's travel from Australia to NZ plus accommodation, musician fees and venue hire for this concert series to come to fruition. We know from listening to rehearsals that the music is brilliant, and we want you to enjoy it too, as well as to see the painting as it morphs into music!
