One third raised, 20 days left! Roller blinds...ordered!
HUGE thanks [big smiles].
We had the windows measured up by McKenzie & Willis before launching this campaign. They were kind enough to offer a discount of about 20% for what we wanted (light-blocking, white, rollerblinds). The blinds will allow privacy when needed, better control of gallery lighting for taking photos, and may be useful as a screen for video projections. Since we're so so confident that we'll reach our target [crossing fingers], we have just given the 'thumbs up' for the roller blinds to be made. They'll be ready...when they're ready. People have been into the gallery recently (some who have donated) to say they're so glad that we'll be running classes here. We are too, it's gonna be a lot of work - I mean fun, it's gonna be lots of fun!
Thanks again to everyone who has donated, you are truly wonderful. We'll be on the hunt for more donors until we reach that sweet 100%. x Stay tuned on instagram/facebook.
Y'all are outstanding!
We have been overwhelmed by the response from our donors, you're all wonderful.
Twenty-nine lovelies have collectively donated 70% of our $3000 target. Super!
With just over a week left, we thought we'd throw a video together. It's bad! Sorry.
We have been jotting down our ideas for classes, and working out how to structure them so that there's a good turnover of attendees. Seems it's quite a task trying to provide a variety of classes to a variety of people of various ages and ability, at times that suit people's busy schedule. We're hoping to have a little get-together in the gallery in a couple of weeks (ish), to share some of our ideas for classes and get some feedback from those who come along. It might be a good chance for people to sign up to a particular class/workshop while they're there.
Anyway, we're so close I'm getting butterflies and goosebumps.
Thanks a bunch to you, and you, and you, and him, and her, and them.
Our next update will be when we cross the finish line.
See ya then.
YOU DID IT! Yay <3
We can't express just how grateful we are for your generosity but, grateful we are.
At least a handful of donations came in from people abroad, and a couple of cash donations were handed in to us that were then transferred to Boosted to get us to 100%, someone even donated twice (thanks Pat).
The roller blinds for privacy were installed last week (and will be paid for once Boosted money arrives), they are wonderful and were the biggest single expense. McKenzie and Willis in Dunedin gave us a nice discount, but with the blinds needing to be so big and made with light blocking textiles, it still cost just over $1000. Something we couldn't have done without you. Our yet-to-be-found nudey models (who will be paid for with Boosted funds for a few sessions) will appreciate them immensely!
Now we are: sourcing the long list of materials and equipment we need to start (with Boosted funds), speaking with a few talented artists who will be our extra tutors (Boosted funds will pay their costs for a few sessions), making a few more easels and thinking about making some donkey benches (google it) and, working out what we need to do for all that administrative stuff. There have been a lot of great suggestions and requests coming in from the community about the type of classes they're wanting, they're as excited about it as we are.
We want people to know who made our art classes possible, so we will be posting a list of the Boosted donors' names (that's you!) in the gallery, unless your name is 'Anonymous.'
Uh! Soo thankful for all of you. Take care. Wash your hands. Eat your greens. Do some exercise. Don't drink & drive. Get enough sleep. X
Dallas & Robert, out.
