Take Care - Short Film

In times like this it’s natural to look at issues on a global level and become quickly overwhelmed in a feeling of hopelessness. There’s an inability to change our circumstances and yes, that’s terrifying. A conversation in the afterlife allows us as filmmakers to frame ideas such as existentialism, humanity and purpose in an extremely profound and insightful light. 

We're doing it! Luke and Hugo have formed a director-producer duo to create our short film ‘Take Care’.  

So what’s it about?

After a seemingly routine night of drunken star gazing, Miles falls dead in the entrance-way of his home. His life doesn’t flash before his eyes, he just finds himself in an unfamiliar empty white room accompanied by a red phone. The phone rings. It’s Alan, an artificially intelligent program designed to comfort the recently deceased. Miles finds out that not only he has died, but everyone has. The simulation has been shut down. A distressed Miles drives the phone call towards an emotional turning point, where the pair confront their own existence together. 

We have organised our assets in order to pin-point exactly where the funding will be utilised before we shoot in mid-September. The overall budget factors in:

• Talent - Our film largely relies on an actor that can convey emotion genuinely and to a professional standard, therefore we want to fairly compensate our talent for their skills and time.
• Set-design and Props - The setting is simple, yet very specific to our story, therefore we need to fund the materials and labour costs for constructing our white room exactly as envisioned.
• Catering - As we will be shooting for three days, food and beverages need to feed a crew of roughly 8-10 people
• Transport costs - We have also factored in the costs for transporting our crew between locations.

Who’s involved?

We’ve gathered together a crew of talented people that combine industry experience, fresh ideas, an extreme eye for detail and an overall driving creative motivation to bring this film to fruition. We have Keria Paterson leading Cinematography, Jack Harris as our First Assistant Director, Alana Tele as our Sound Operator and Jessica Lee on Production Design. Furthermore, we’re stoked to have Elizabeth Hoyle as our Executive Producer.
