The Project
TahiMana is a 20 strong team of proud Polynesians who love showcasing or art of Fire Knife dance. 5 of our warriors are set to represent Aotearoa on the world stage at the
2025 World Fireknife Championship in Oahu.
We need your help to fund the 5 of them to get there.
The Team
Siva Afi (Fire Dance) is a thrilling and warrior inspired dance that combines Samoan's life necessity element of 'fire/afi' with their traditional 'Nifo oti / deadly tooth' war club.
This dance is to showcase combat skill and bravery and to intimate enemies from attacking.
Our dancers love to showcase the art of Siva Afi Fire Knife and are ready to hit the world stage in Hawaii!
The Funding
The cost required to get them there is made up of:
- return airfares
- accomodation
- e-visa
- travel insurance
- competition registration fees
- transportation costs from airport to competition venue
The Details
We kindly ask for your help to fund 5 of our worldclass Siva Afi Fireknife dancers to get to Hawaii to compete in the worlds division. This means they will compete against the best fire knife dancers in the world.
The Impact
Many cultural arts are dying for many reasons such as globalisation, modernisation, urbanisation, migration. As cultures mix, we adopt new practices or abandon our own traditions altogether. This can lead to a dilution of cultural identity and heritage. We need to keep showcasing these arts and influence others to learn so they can teach future generations!
