Sirens the Short Film

Sirens is a Massey Second year Film Production written and directed by Sofia Riddell-Garner. It's about a group of high school cheerleaders who get caught up in social politics and petty games at a team bonding sleepover when one of their team mates dies, and they're the only ones left to blame. Instead of bonding in the usual ways, the girls manage to get over their disagreements and bond together as a team while trying to cover their tracks. Sirens features themes of friendship, girlhood, and unity.

With the money raised for Sirens on this boosted, we will be able to afford essential costume pieces, transport for cast and crew, and catering for shoot days.

Sirens has a lot of people bringing this vision to life, and we hope to bring on even more people!

Sofia Riddell-Garner, Jordan Mills, Mylo Akai-Hape, Lily/Lamtarn Poomklin, and Stella Barrett-Lovie as our head of department roles. 

Vinny J Shore as our primary designer, Isabel Quinn as social media, Ace MacDonald as Gaffer and Yolanda Kirschbaum as lighting assist, though this is not the exclusive lineup.

Our hope is to create a safe, fun, and exemplary set to help set the tone for all of our future projects.

This project was originally written with my own personal experiences as inspiration. As a young girl I remember getting into a lot of unsafe situations at sleepovers caused by a desire to belong. Sirens will resonate with people who have or are going through these experiences themselves.

Not only will this film be a cathartic experience for young girls, but also a foundation for the cast and crews future careers.
