Overview

RE:CREATE is a book that encourages and teaches readers how to create various handmade book projects, using mostly found objects. Taking an item such as an old photograph album found in a charity shop, and transforming it into a travel book using mostly instant coffee, glue, gesso, old maps and an old passport is just one example of the playful and easy projects.

The book has been written by Book Artist Liz Constable, who has already produced two published books, One Small Drop and DIY Notebooks made easy (available in English and German). So passionate is she about all things books, she was one of 7,000 exhibitors at the worlds largest book fair: The Frankfurt Book Fair, in 2015. The photography in RE:CREATE is exceptional, thanks to Jason Burgess who also photographed DIY Notebooks made easy. The photography makes the steps from an idea to a finished project seamless and assists the reader to enjoy success.

Jo Constable from The Design Space, is now in the process of working on the manuscript to put her exceptional graphic design skills into practice. Jo and Liz worked together on One Small Drop an outstanding storybook told not only in words but in the clever design. So they are very much, on the same page when it comes to words and design. It's gearing up to be a fantastic book in which Liz, who has over 30 years experience as a teacher, playfully guides readers through the step-by-step projects, chatting with you just like she does with her students in her classes. A warm and inviting book which doesn't demand readers spend a fortune in order to engage with the projects. We feel it's quite a topical title with a 'what do you already have at home' focus which is very fitting for the current times.

We will be using the money raised in this campaign solely towards printing costs. Each of the three collaborators are donating their time to the project, aware that the sales will come in dribs and drabs over a period of time. This way, the book can be printed as soon as the design process is completed.
