A Message From Our Producer!

A word from producer Pamela Kaval, whose horror film Mothering Sunday (2021) has won 20 awards and got into over 45 film festivals.

Two weeks to go!

We have two weeks left to raise the funds for this indie queer horror short, and still a fair way to go. We'd like to thank everyone who has donated so far, and if you have already donated please consider sharing.

Here's a word from our very talented lead actor Som Chakraborty. More video content is coming down the pipeline in the next two weeks.

We hope everyone is safe & well this Aotearoa/New Zealand Pride.

An impressive audition & campaign crunch period

Hi all, we were very impressed by this recent audition from Nickolas Morris, a fitness trainer willing to commit to a shirtless falsetto scream!

Meanwhile, we are in crunch period for this campaign. We're aiming to hit 50% by the end of the weekend, so that's $1,500 more by the end of Sunday the 19th. Boosted has an all-or-nothing system, so if we don't hit the target of $5,000 by Friday the 25th we don't get the funds.

Thank you for already supporting us financially. If you haven't shared our page or videos, that would also help us reach our goal. Hope you're all safe and well this Aotearoa/New Zealand Pride Month.

The Bear Speaks

A word from "The Bear" as played by charming performer Dorien Takeshi-Vercoe 🐻🏳️‍🌈🔪📺

With just 7 days to go, we have passed 40%+ of our goal, meaning we need just $400 to reach our goal of 50% by the end of the weekend.

Thanks for contributing already, and as usual, if you haven't shared already that would be greatly appreciated.

Stay safe everyone, ka kite!

12 hours to raise remaining 10%

Thanks to everyone who has donated!

We now have 12 hours remaining to raise 10%, or $500 of the funds.

We're close to the finish line, and any final shares to help us get over would be sincerely appreciated. Hope you're safe & well!

We passed 100%!

Final update: with just 3 hours to go, we've just passed 100% thanks to a particularly generous donation from one James Everett!

With the arts sector chronically underfunded, particularly for queer creators, this kind of community support is sincerely appreciated. Thank you all.

We look forward to producing some truly weird art 🏳️‍🌈🔪🎦

Thank you all!

Hello contributors!

It's been 53 weeks since you all contributed to making our weird little short Illuminati Castrati happen.

We are pleased to announce that we have reached a final cut.

Our great producer Pamela Kaval has submitted the film to the following festivals: 1. Vancouver Queer Film Festival, 2. NZ International Film Festival, 3. Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, 4. Indy Shorts Intl Film Festival, 5. Show Me Shorts, 6. IndieCork Film Festival, 7. Out on Film: Atlanta's LGBTQ Film Fes and 8. Screamfest Horror Film Fest. We will submit to more festivals later this year.

We'd like to thank the Rainbow New Zealand Charitable Trust for a recent grant of $1,550, to help with the final stages of post-production and marketing.

And thanks again for helping an indie project get off the ground.

Thanks.
Ani

First film festival acceptance!

Kia Ora lovely donors,

We have great news about Illuminati Castrati.

The short has been accepted into its first film festival, the queer-feminist Squish Movie Camp in Rotterdam.

According to their website, Squish is a queer-feminist cultural platform supporting primarily LGBTQ+ culture makers and, more generally, proletarian artists. The organization questions identity politics with an intersectional approach through the development of various multidisciplinary events, emphasizing self-representation and peer support.

Squish Movie Camp is a new recurring program of the organization. It is a research hub on working class, BIPOC, queer and feminist filmic history and a platform for a new generation of artists embodying their legacy.

As always, we would like to thank you all for your support in making this happen. We hope you and yours are well."

Thanks,

Ani

New queer horror short

Once again, thank you all for making independent queer horror happen. We're now looking to produce another short film, and would greatly appreciate any ongoing support.

The Anti-Exorcist is a queer parody of exorcism films, in which a gender-bending spirit turns the tables against a Catholic priest. It is written and directed by Ani White, in collaboration with queer film collective The New New. Through The Anti-Exorcist we're excited to help uplift the new generation of queer filmmakers, developing skills that allow us to give voice to queer perspectives.

You can find out more about the project, and donate or share here. Thank you for your time!
