The Project
Kia ora koutou,
Just an update on Illuminati Castrati (now on IMDb). Thanks to all your contributions, we wrapped shooting on in late June, coincidentally wrapping on the anniversary of the Stonewall Riot. We're very happy with the footage, and you can see some preview frames on my instagram.
We're now in post-production. This will take a number of months as we fine tune the cutting, colour grading, sound and other aspects. We aim to have a final cut by November, at which point we can start marketing the film to mainly queer & horror film festivals.
In the meantime, a soundtrack preview: we commissioned a dance remix from the appropriately named DJ Lani The Magnificent, of Moreschi The Last Castrato's performance of Crucifixus. You can find the remix on her soundcloud. Enjoy!

Illuminati Castrati is a debut short film written & directed by queer horror enthusiast Ani White (they/them), who recently completed a Doctorate in Media & Communication.
The film centres on a gay vampire, cruising for men to join his harem. The project seeks to make the queer subtext of the horror genre explicit, while also using horror to explore the darker side of queer communities.
An experienced cast and crew is ready to go, with an initial 10K saved by the filmmaker, but we need 5K more to achieve a professional standard. Over Aotearoa/New Zealand Pride Month, we appreciate any support for this queer art project.
