Pride Elevates

Auckland Pride is partnering up with Khu Khu Eatery in Ponsonby for a series of fundraising evenings for our Boosted campaign. This means, when you eat at Khu Khu, 10% of your spending will go to our Nine Artists. Alongside, an evening of entertainment, we will encourage patrons dining in to hop onto the website and make additional donations.

The first one of these is tomorrow evening from 6pm-9pm. Come for dinner and typewriting poetry, and give back to the artists who make the city such a vibrant place. 

One of the Pride Elevates projects we're supporting is F.O.L.A [AKL] who have now officially launched their programme. This is guaranteed to be one of the highlights during Auckland Pride next year, a mini-festival within our festival that includes a range of queer artists.

The two projects Pride Elevates is specifically assisting with are Panos Malactos' Sadboi and Daley Rangi's Takatāpui. Check out their artist pages here:

Auckland Pride is doing two more Dine & Donate nights at Khu Khu Eatery with the addition of Typewriter Poetry. This is an opportunity to have a meal, get a customised poem, hear more about the Pride Elevates campaign, and support the artists.

We’ve reached our first major milestone at 20% of our total $60,000 crowdfunding goal. We realise it’s no small ask, but we also understand how necessary it is to invest in our artists. 

A MASSIVE thank you to all the generous people who have donated to our Pride Elevates Boosted campaign so far! You've given us the hope that this campaign is possible and worth pursuing. With this campaign, we're collective supporting the next generation of Queer and Takatāpui artists and legends.

Over the weekend, Pride Elevates made an appearance in the news as Creative Director Nathan Joe and artist Sung Hwan Bobby Park spoke to Stuff about the urgency of supporting Queer Arts in Aotearoa. Check out the piece here.

The Wellington Theatre Awards also took place, and Pride Elevates artist Reon Bell was awarded the Most Promising Newcomer Award.
