Overview

Paradise Island is a new play by Indigo Paul, nominated for Playmarket's B4 25 Award in 2018. We are fundraising for the premiere season at Basement Studio this June, directed by Katie Burson and produced by Hannah Diver.

The play explores the themes of mental illness and suicide as a group of bandmates rebel against their writer following the loss of a friend, with the belief she might be able to fix what is broken. But when she is finally forced to confront them, things only seem to get turned further upside-down.

We are lucky to be working with a wonderful group of professional actors including Summer Millet, Shaan Kesha, Ryan Dulieu, Esmay Goodman, Georgie Oulton, and Indigo Paul.

As we are making this work without outside funding, we would love your support to help cover our upfront costs like set construction, puppet-making, and marketing. This is a profit-share production, meaning that any profit we make beyond payment for these costs will be split between our cast and crew. Your support of this project means so much to us.

". . . highly original in its structural approach. . . [Paradise Island] shows the potential to be an enormously exciting piece of theatre"
- David Lawrence, theatre director

"The play is a vehicle to keep people (especially victims of suicide and mental illness) alive. This is not an easy or light topic, but crucial and handled courageously and poetically in  the play."
- Playmarket B4 25 Judge

"Paradise Island is adventurous in form and yet totally cohesive in its style and in its treatment of a difficult subject. A production as proposed would result  in a fascinating and evocative – and important – theatrical experience."
- Stuart Hoar, playwright
