Overview

After the presentation of Our Jurisdiction and a successful debut in Tāmaki Makaurau at Basement Theatre in 2023, we are delighted to be re-platforming the work at Dunedin Fringe in March 2024. We are seeking funding towards the support of this presentation.

About Our Jurisdiction Our Jurisdiction collectively held by Emma Broad, Evie Logan and Lulu Qiu, as they occupy this fabricated existence. The inhabitants leave behind traces and echoes of memories and movement, as one world fades into the next. Where does one body begin and another end? Time morphs into a kaleidoscope of interpretation. So for now we invite you to come and sit here with us. As you too once inhabited this space.

A contemporary dance show, Deborah Fletcher’s first full length independent work. Her work is inherently collaborative; it is as much influenced by the people involved as driven by the thematic content. Her work pivots on the intersection of movement, live art, collaboration and the interplay of interdisciplinary elements.

How will you be supporting? We are fortunate to have the support of the Dunedin Fringe Artist Grant, alongside our projected box office this will cover most production costs outside the artist fees. The first development and performance was generously supported by Peacocke Dance Trust, Basement Theatre and Creative community scheme. Unfortunately, this support does not reach artist fees for the rehearsal and Dunedin season, and some other necessary costs to present the show. Therefore, through Boosted, we are seeking your support to cover this deficit. The $3000 we are seeking, will go directly to artist fees, rehearsal venue hire, and one return flight to Dunedin. The breakdown is below: $300 - Boosted percentage $170 - Rehearsal Venue $280- 1/4 return flights to Dunedin $2250 - Artist fees for x3 dancers, choreographer, and producer If you contribute: $5 - prop for set $10 - 1 hour rehearsal space $30 - 1 hour dancer / choreographer wage $50 - Poster redesign $110 - Theatre Hire for 1 show $280 - Flight to Dunedin $325 - Fringe Registration We feel the weight and privilege it is to have autonomy over our bodies. To have the self-determination and freedom to create and present our dance in relative peace. May our dance be a protest not a distraction.
