Oddly - 1 year pilot
ODDLY Projects | Visual Art
Overview
ODDLY is a new Artist Run Space in Tāmaki Makaurau.
We opened our doors in January 2022 on the former site of Satchi&Satchi&Satchi (216 Dominion Road). ODDLY is split into artist studio spaces in the back, and exhibition space in the front.
Our vision is for ODDLY to provide a supportive space for artists: to develop their art practice, encourage conversation, and make genuine connections within the art community.
We want to be a welcoming and accessible place for both emerging artists to experience exhibiting, and for established artists to be more experimental and push the boundaries of their practice. We are excited to be a part of the dynamic arts scene in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Since opening on 20th January 2022 we have hosted two amazing exhibitions:
The first show appropriately encapsulated ODDLY’s essence – 9 artists, a mixture of emerging and established from across Aotearoa, showing exceptional work. We were overwhelmed by the turnout and support for the opening night!
Our second show Brick was a collection of work created in lockdown by established artist and ceramicist Peter Lange. It was awesome connecting with his community for a “Dominion Road reunion”.
Our third show is just around the corner, Synonym of Something opening 25th March 2022 curated by Jasmine Tuiā and Ashleigh Taupaki, featuring 9 artists that have benefited from their “Moana-Nui-a- Kiwa Cross Crits” initiative.
We have many more great shows planned for this year and we would like to ask for your support:
Your support will go a long way towards enabling these future exhibitions to be the best they can.
We will be using these funds for things such as:
-
Giving the space some much needed TLC – Fixing up the lighting and paint for the walls.
-
Equipment for install and exhibition setup.
-
Drinks and nibbles for exhibition openings.
-
Security equipment.
ODDLY is run by Lexi Kerr - a recent graduate from Whitecliffe College, with support from friends and whānau. We are looking forward to a great year of good times!
