No Sleep Till Bankstown
Action Education & The South Auckland Poets Collective | Multi Discipline
Overview
Out of 180 poets from 26 high schools across Auckland, the team from Marist College smashed through the Semi-finals and battled it out to take out the coveted crown of grand slam champs of Word- The Front Line 2016. New Zealand's premier inter high school spoken word competition which took place at Aucklands Town Hall, August 27th.
The gauntlet was thrown down by the Bankstown Poetry Slam to compete against their best in a Trans-Tasman slam taking place in October. Also included in this trip is featuring alongside world renowned spoken word and Hip-hop artist Luka Lesson at a huge event at the Bankstown Arts Centre.
This is a dream come true for these aspiring poets, to perform and compete on an New Zealand stage alongside some of their heroes.
The money we are seeking is to cover associated costs for the trip including flights, food, transport and accommodation for our poets who will represent New Zealand at these events.
Help them to get there and open up a whole new world of possibility.
Not only will they gain experience as performing artists on prestigious stages but they will gain exposure to an New Zealand audience. The experience, relationships and networks built on this trip will prove invaluable for their future.
