The Project
Our project is a cultural immersion trip to Tahiti, Raʻiātea, and Moʻorea, to honor the sacred season of abundance, Matariʻi i niʻa. We plan to reconnect with our roots by visiting Taputapuātea, witnessing the rising of the Pleiades, and participating in the second edition of the Siva Afi Tahiti Competition.
We’re seeking crowdfunding support to make this meaningful cultural experience possible and to help preserve and celebrate our heritage for future generations.
The Team
We are a team of four performers and cultural experts, from preschool kids , youth, and adults, who’ve been training since the beginning of 2025.
The Funding
We are aiming to raise $6,000 to help cover the cost of travel, event entry fees, and cultural visits for our performers and support team.
Here’s what your support will go toward:
- Travel: Flights and getting around in Tahiti, Raʻiātea, and Moʻorea.
- Event Fees: Paying to enter the Siva Afi Tahiti Competition and other events.
- Cultural Visits: Visiting special sites like Taputapuātea.
- Practice & Rehearsals: Anything we need to get ready for our performances.
- Food & Daily Needs: Meals and everyday essentials.
- Extras: Any other costs that come up along the way.
Thanks so much for helping us make this trip happen and share our culture with others!
The Details
Our project is about going on a cultural trip to Tahiti, Raʻiātea, and Moʻorea, and then performing at the Siva Afi Tahiti Competition from November 18th to 30th, 2025. It’s a special way for us to honor the season of abundance, called Matariʻi i niʻa, and really connect with our roots.
Since February this year, we've been practicing our dance moves, choreographies, singing, and more — all to get ready for these events. It’s been a lot of hard work, but totally worth it to show off our culture.
While we’re there, we want to visit important places like Taputapuātea, a UNESCO World Heritage site that’s super meaningful to us. We’ll also get to see the rising of the Pleiades, which is a big deal in Polynesian navigation and tradition. Taking part in the Siva Afi Tahiti Competition is a great way to celebrate our heritage through dance and performance.
The main idea is to strengthen our connection to our culture and history. We want to learn more about our ancestors’ ways, stories, and traditions, and then share what we learn when we get back home. We’re asking for some crowdfunding support to help cover travel, stay, and event costs.
Overall, this trip is about celebrating who we are, keeping our culture alive, and passing it on to the next generation. It’s an awesome chance to reconnect, have fun, and share the beauty of Polynesian culture with others.
The Impact
This trip and our performances are about more than just going somewhere. They’re a way to share our culture and what it means to us. When people see and hear our dance, music, and stories, it helps keep our traditions alive and kicking.
Even though we’re living away from our homeland as natives in Aotearoa, we’ve managed to build our own community here. We want to show everyone that our culture and traditions are still very much alive and strong.
Our community should support us because this isn’t just about us. It’s about celebrating where we come from and making sure our culture keeps thriving for the next generation. It’s a way to share pride, connect with others, and let the world see what makes us unique.
By backing us, you’re helping keep our culture vibrant, visible, and alive, and that benefits us all.
