LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE
Tessa Redman | Dance
Overview
"To holding on, to knowing again that moment of rapture, or recognition where we can face one another as we really are, stripped of artifice and pretence, naked and not ashamed." - bell hooks
Continuing her ongoing research into the glory, madness and intensity of what it means to fall hopelessly, deeply, unapologetically in love, Tessa Redman returns to Te Whanganui-a-Tara with a blatant, new, conversational dance about (you guessed it) love. Welcome to Romance: Tessa’s POV.
LOVE/LOVE/LOVE/LOVE/LOVE will be Tessa's first performance back in Aotearoa after spending much of 2022 exploring, researching and studying abroad. The show will be premiering at the New Zealand Fringe Festival from 21 - 25 February at Te Auaha Theatre in Wellington.
Tessa will present an innocent, raunchy, empowering, heartfelt investigation into the ebbs and flows of love within all facets of our life. A deconstruction into the human heart, a remapping of a young woman’s heightened emotions. Tessa will be diving deep into erotic love, romantic love, jealous love, familiar love, disgusting love, painful love, desperate love, uncomfortable love, cheesy love.
Inspired by her first-hand experiences of being in love, whether that be through her family, friends, crushes, fanfictions, snogs, or boybands, Tessa will attempt to experience what romance really feels like and how it manifests in and around the physical body. Get ready to embark on a journey of falling in and out of love again and again and again and again.
LOVE/LOVE/LOVE/LOVE/LOVE will be performed and choreographed by Tessa. Elekis Poblete-Teriney (lighting), Jackie Jenkins (sound) and Trantham Gordon (photography) will also be part of the team creating this intimate, honest and (most importantly) romantic experience.
The project will currently be predominantly self-funded, with limited external funding.
This funding will be allocated to cover costs including:
· Rehearsal space
· Fair payment for the creative team
· Travel costs
Tickets for LOVE/LOVE/LOVE/LOVE/LOVE are available via fringe.co.nz/show/love-love-love-love-love
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Endless hugs and kisses and love from Tessa xxx
