Help us build a community reading room and multi-use space

From April-May 2019, Enjoy will be relocating to our new home at 211 Left Bank.

After fifteen years at Level 1, 147 Cuba Street, Enjoy's new space will enable us to continue our mission of nurturing, challenging and supporting contemporary art practitioners and audiences as we look to the future. With almost triple the floor space of our current location, the ground-level, 150 square meter site will enhance Enjoy's visibility, accessibility and artistic programme.

The new space will feature spatial design by Whare Timu of First Light Studio architects, including a dedicated reading room and multi-use space for gatherings, discussion and research. We're excited about the potential of this room as a valuable community resource that enhances Enjoy's long standing focus on contemporary art publishing and discourse.

Enjoy has been busy fundraising to make our relocation project possible, and now we're asking for you to join us. We need $5000 to furnish the community reading room and multi-purpose space into a functional and welcoming hangout area for you and others like you. Your support will go towards:

- The centerpiece of the room, a large custom-designed table where people can gather, work and discuss (with tea and coffee-making facilities located nearby!)
- Comfy seating for workshops, gatherings and everyday use
- Shelving to house the library and archive, enabling us to activate and expand these resources.

Until now, Enjoy has often needed to pause exhibition programming to hold onsite workshops, the archive has been stored haphazardly in a cupboard alongside tools, paint and technology, and the library has far outgrown its current shelving with limited space for visitors to use it. A larger dedicated space offers an opportunity to expand Enjoy's public programmes, care for the collections of artist-led publishing and contemporary art ephemera from Aotearoa and beyond, and to make them more accessible for you; artists, art enthusiasts, students, researchers and the public.
