Overview
Festival of Live Art Auckland [F.O.L.A - AKL] is a new festival of wild, daring, experimental and rule breaking live performance featuring over 30 dancers, theatre makers, installation artists, voguers, krumpers, poets, lighting designers, musicians and comedians. Featuring 10 full length shows as well as a free public program of installations, workshops and one on one experiences.
FOLA [AKL] is full of the kind of art that starts movements and sets trends. It is your gateway drug to the newest, most exciting artists in our city set in the midst of the Auckland summer sun. This is work at the margins, work at the cutting edge.
Welcome to the artistic underground.
This is art, but not as you know it
WHAT IS LIVE ART?
Live Art describes work that doesn’t easily fit into any category (eg. dance, theatre, visual art). This is work at the margin, work at the cutting edge. Live Art offers a haven to artists whose work doesn’t easily fit into the mainstream: Misfits, punks, experimental mavericks, these are the artists who come together under Live Art. In short, Live Artists make up their own rules.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
The incredible Basement Theatre are supporting this work as part of their Co-Pro program. This enables us to pay each artist an upfront fee for their work. We are absolutely beyond stoked to be a part of the 2022 PRIDE Festival and have them on board as our match donors.
We are now seeking additional resources towards the technical delivery of the festival, this means hiring of technical staff, technical equipment, lighting and sound operator fees, additional marketing and publicity for the festival. This enables the brilliant artists we have programmed to present their work in the best light and in the best conditions.
Thank you so much for your support!
