Dylan Frater Album Project
Dylan Frater | Music
Overview
From a young age my passion has always been music. After finishing school I went on to complete five years of Music study at Whitireia, focusing on composition, songwriting and developing trained and confident guitar skills. After graduating with a well established degree and graduate diploma, I set off to discover my own unique sound and pursue a solo career in music.
With a lot of experimenting I defined a style best described as "ambient folk", a combination of storytelling lyrics and sound-scape guitar. After doing some extra song writing and vocal coach training, I wrote and refined six songs to record on an EP. I saved money from teaching music and was able to record with engineer and producer, Lee Prebble at surgery studios. "The Torch Songs EP" was released in August 2013 and has been well received by reviewers and blogs across the world.
The $2000 raised will give me the resources I need to record the album in the way I have been envisioning for the last two years, using a studio which has the same equipment used on Jeff Buckley's album, Grace - one of my inspirations.
