Overview

I, Tess Sheerin took my niece (Djuna, aged 2yrs) and my families dog (Fillepe, aged 11yrs) to the beach last summer and in a short walk collected two large bags filled with rubbish. I have investigated the impact rubbish has on our coastlines and the knock on effect of single-plastics in particular that are killing our marine and wildlife and the results are awful.

My team and I are seeking financial support for five murals around New Zealand. One mural in each of the following cities: Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin. Each mural will be painted with the aim to raise awareness about our increasing problem with pollution and its effect on our wildlife, which is devastating.

I believe by painting these large scale murals they will engage with people that probably wouldn't usually care two hoots about the environment.

The tour is due to start at the end of October 2015 and will continue throughout the summer.

Here is a link to a previous mural I painted up in Christchurch, with Gap Filler, Life in Vacant Spaces and Christchurch City Council. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwzxFIHgpH8. (My team would create something similar to this for the pollution mural tour)

When we were younger there was an advertising campaign called 'Do the Right Thing': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ys26hk5VM8, we believe that a revival of something like this could be really effective, using images from the murals etc

Any contribution from boosted will be put towards scissor lift hire, materials, artist hours and film crew for the Queenstown mural (the first of the tour). Any contribution is welcome and fully appreciated.
