Amelia Speaking- Short Drama Film
Full Coverage Productions | Film
Overview
Amelia Speaking is a much needed short drama based on a foster child's experience in care. The story follows the all too familiar theme of having to break down the protective walls a child has placed around themselves, in order for her new start to really begin. Amelia is learning to find her voice again, as a neglected child in an adults world that has only let her down until now.
WHY MAKE THIS FILM?
"As a creative person, i've always wanted to do some sort of project that reflected the way my childhood played out. When i used to talk about how i felt as a foster child, people didn't always understand me, or how the confusion and fear of my past really hindered me in my first few years away from my parents. When this opportunity arose, i knew that it was finally my chance to visualise my experience, which is also so many other people's experiences. I want to show people that with the right family, and with the right kind of love, any child can overcome the obstacles of their past, just like i did. We don't have to become another statistic, we can do better. Being in foster care doesn't have to determine the way we live the rest of our lives. I know that when it was happening to me, there wasn't any material that really connected with me, that made me feel like other people understood how i felt. I felt really isolated in my pain, so this film is for the foster kids of New Zealand. It's not exactly how my story played out, but it does show a lot of themes that occurred in my story, in a lot of foster kid's stories." - Sydney-anne, Writer/Director of Amelia Speaking.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Any donations will go directly towards the costs of making this film a reality. Films cost a lot of money to make, and we're hoping that there are many people out there who are all just as passionate about supporting this topic as we are. The donations will go towards production expenses for the film, things such as costuming, locations, catering for our cast and crew, paying our actors for giving up their time and efforts, etc. It would be wonderful if you could help us reach our goal of $2000 so that this film becomes the best version it can be. Anything more than our goal, will only ensure an even higher level of production, with all money not used for the production, being donated directly to charities supporting foster care child and underprivileged youth.
OUR HOPES
Our main goal for this film, is that it will be used be any foster care supporting business as an educational tool to spread awareness and to open communications about becoming a foster parent. There are so many children and teenagers in New Zealand who get left behind or over looked because they're not in a typical family unit, and they need loving people to show them that they are worthy of being looked after properly. We hope that this film will inspire ordinary people to become extraordinary foster parents.
