Overview

On the morning of 15 April, I was photographing on Wellington's South Coast when I was taken down by a freak wave, along with my camera bag. I spent about a minute underwater hanging on to a fence! I have since recovered, however my mirrorless camera and two Olympus PRO lenses are now full of gravel and salt water! I have insurance which has been helpful however because I have a $1000 deductible, and my gear has some age on it, what they will provide won't cover the actual replacement costs. I would love a $1000 boost to help me get shooting again! And with the $1000 matching of the Arts Foundation Future Fund, this will be matched to provide a total of $2000 for the new gear I need.

Our story is captured here, in a Dominion Post article by Nikki MacDonald about objects that symbolise people's lockdown experience. The photos are by Ross Giblin and have been generously gifted to this campaign by stuff.co.nz.
