Keep Leah's New York Dream alive!

Kia ora! Ko Leah toku ingoa and I am a musician, event producer and composer from Te Whanganui-a-tara. I self-produced projects like Pōneke Sessions and Gallery Orchestra before relocating to New York City to study at the New School. I have recently graduated with a Masters of Arts Management and Entrepreneurship, during which I self-published my first book centring joy in musician's creative practice, but the New York dream continues! I have been incredibly fortunate and offered the amazing opportunity to continue studying in the composition department at the Mannes School of Music with composer, documentarian and Pulitzer-finalist Mary Kouyoumdjian. While my fees have been covered by a merit scholarship, I face a big battle covering my living expenses in the big apple. International students in the USA are only able to work 20 hours a week during the school semester and NYC prices are sky high. Your donation will help me cover my rent and flight back to the United States so that I can continue to grow as a composer, artist and collaborator in the most challenging and inspiring city in the world. During my next two years in NYC, I hope to produce my first album of contemporary classical music, write a chamber opera and bring many of my kiwi collaborators over to the city to perform and network. The longer I live and work in this city, the stronger my skills and global network becomes to the benefit of all my future projects in Aotearoa!
