Mia Maramara
Receiving the 2026 Springboard Award for Film gifted by Jamie and Ann Selkirk
Mia Maramara is a Filipino filmmaker based in New Zealand. She works as a writer, director, and producer. Mia wrote and directed Beyond the Veil: Albularyo for TVNZ, which earned her the distinction of being the first Filipino director to helm a prime-time drama on New Zealand TV. Albularyo went on to win the national prize for Best Single Drama / Anthology Episode at the Asian Academy Creative Awards.
Mia's latest feature film, Grafted (dir. Sasha Rainbow) premiered at the acclaimed Sitges Film Festival 2024 and is distributed by Mister Smith Entertainment and AMC’s Shudder. In the Philippines, she was part of the cohort for the prestigious Ricky Lee Screenwriting Class of 2021.
