Jaime Jenkins
Receiving the Springboard Award gifted by Wendell Property – Mentored by 2025 Laureate Kate Newby
Jaime Jenkins is a Tauranga Moana-based artist who creates hand-built ceramic works and installations. Having graduated from Toi Ohomai with an Advanced Diploma in Visual Art, she has gone on to develop a unique 3-dimensional visual language that explores form and environment.
Jenkins has undertaken internships with Laurie Steer and Francis Upritchard and has participated in multiple residencies. She was the 2022 recipient of Dame Doreen’s Gift from the Blumhardt Foundation, and her work is represented in numerous private collections and public collections such as Te Papa Tongarewa – Museum of New Zealand. Recent exhibitions include Aotearoa Art Fair, Pah Homestead, and a major collaboration with Séraphine Pick for Te Uru. Jaime is represented by Jhana Millers.
Panel Statement: “Over recent years, Jamie has established a strong presence as an innovative ceramicist. Her hand-built stoneware traverses the boundary between studio ceramic and sculptural traditions, balancing both histories and carrying these forward into contemporary moments in a unique and distinctive way. This approach has earned recognition through significant awards and exhibitions including the 2022 Dame Doreen’s Gift from the Blumhardt Foundation, which acknowledged Jenkins as a key voice in an emerging generation of craft practitioners.”
