Project Updates
We did it!
Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve not only reached our goal — we’ve exceeded it, finishing at 111% of our target ($6,640 raised).
What an extraordinary result.
When we reset our goal in the final days, we knew it would take a real collective effort to get there. And that’s exactly what happened. Every donation, every share, every conversation helped carry this campaign across the line.
We’re so grateful to each and every one of you who supported this project. Your generosity has made it possible for us to bring Christopher Tin’s To Shiver the Sky to the stage — a work that is rarely performed live, and one we’re incredibly proud to share with Wellington audiences.
Beyond the fundraising, this campaign has sparked meaningful conversations about what it takes to present contemporary music, and why it matters. That’s something we’ll carry forward well beyond this project.
Thank you for being part of this with us.
We can’t wait to share the performance with you, especially if you're joining us this Saturday night at Michael Fowler Centre!

Update – we've reset the goal and we're feeling optimistic!
To everyone who's on this journey with us, thank you for being here!
With just three days to go in our Boosted campaign, we wanted to share an important update.
We’ve made the decision to revise our campaign target from $10,000 to $6,000.
Boosted operates on an all-or-nothing model, which means if we don’t reach our goal, we receive none of the funds raised. Given where we are in the campaign, and the economic pressures many are facing right now, we felt it was important to reset our target to something achievable in the time remaining.
That way, we can give this campaign the best possible chance of success, and still utilise the funds raised to support our presentation of this wonderful work.
We’ve been blown away by the support so far. The conversations, the generosity, and the belief in bringing To Shiver the Sky to the stage have meant a great deal to us.
Now, with a more achievable goal in sight, we have a real opportunity to get this across the line.
If you’ve been meaning to support, this is the moment.
If you’ve already donated, sharing the campaign now could make all the difference.
Thank you for your belief in Orpheus Choir Wellington, and in contemporary music!
4 days to go – every moment counts!
Good morning everyone,
With just four days to go, we’re entering the very last stretch of our campaign.
We still have a way to go to reach our goal. But we’ve seen what’s possible over the past few weeks, and we know this project has resonated with so many of you.
This campaign has already done something important. It’s sparked conversations about what it takes to bring contemporary music to the stage, and why works like To Shiver the Sky are so rarely performed live.
Now, we have a short window to turn that momentum into action.
Because Boosted is all-or-nothing, reaching our goal is essential. If we don’t, we receive none of the funds raised.
If you’ve been meaning to support, this is the moment.
If you’ve already donated, sharing the campaign now could make all the difference.
Every contribution, every share, every conversation counts.
Let’s see what we can do together in these final days, and thank you again for your support and encouragement so far.
With thanks,
Orpheus Choir Wellington
Building momentum — and starting important conversations
Kia ora,
Thank you again to everyone who has supported our campaign so far. Your generosity is helping build real momentum, not just financially, but in the conversations we’re having as a result of this project.
With just two weeks to go, this feels like an important moment to keep that momentum building.
One of the most exciting outcomes has been the number of discussions sparked around To Shiver the Sky and the realities of presenting contemporary choral works. We’ve been hearing from supporters, audience members, and our wider community about how rare it is to experience music like this live, and how important it is to create space for it.
This campaign is helping shine a light on the additional costs involved in performing works by living composers, and why they are so often underrepresented on our stages, which is a level of awareness that matters so much.
Every contribution is not only helping us bring this extraordinary work to life, but also supporting a broader conversation about how we value and present new music.
If you’ve already donated or shared the campaign, thank you — it truly makes a difference. And if you’re still considering it, we’d love to have you with us as we enter the final two weeks.
Let’s keep it going!
Ngā mihi nui,
Orpheus Choir Wellington
Update: We’ve reached 25% — thank you!
Kia ora,
We are so thrilled to have reached 25% of our goal in just one week! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the campaign so far.
It’s incredibly encouraging to see this kind of momentum behind To Shiver the Sky. This is a work that doesn’t often make it to the stage, and your support is helping make that possible here in Wellington.
Every contribution, share, and message helps us reach new people, and that’s exactly what we need to keep building toward our goal.
If you’ve already donated, thank you. If you’ve been following along, now is a great time to jump in and be part of bringing this extraordinary work to life.
Let’s keep it going!
Ngā mihi nui,
Orpheus Choir Wellington
We're live, thank you for being here!
Nau mai, welcome!
We’re so excited to have launched this campaign to bring Christopher Tin’s To Shiver the Sky to life here in Wellington.
This is a bold and ambitious project — a contemporary work for choir and orchestra that doesn’t make it to the stage often, largely because of the additional costs involved in performing music by a living composer. From hiring the scores to shipping them from overseas, there are real barriers to presenting work like this.
Every donation helps us take a step closer to sharing this extraordinary music with our community. And because Boosted is an all-or-nothing platform, reaching our $10,000 goal is essential — if we don’t get there, we receive none of the funds raised.
If you’ve already contributed, thank you. If you’re considering it, now is the perfect time to jump in and help build early momentum.
And if you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this campaign with your networks is just as powerful.
Let’s bring this music to life together. Thank you.
Ngā mihi nui,
Orpheus Choir Wellington
