Project Updates

Thank You

This morning I found myself sleeping in after an exhausting evening at the University last night. With groggy eyes and not anticipating a lot in the day ahead, I gazed at my phone to see a big fat 100% slapped onto the front of my campaign for my novel.

I'm currently in a state of awe and shock, which will no doubt turn into a wave of emotions that may wash over me later today!

But in the meantime, I wish to extend my deepest and most sincere gratitude to everyone who donated towards helping my writing dreams become fully realized. I've been working away at this novel (and its inevitable sequels!) for quite some time now even before I began studying creative writing at the University.

The version of me that is seven-odd years younger and punching out that first draft coudln't have imagined the fruits of his labour that are now starting to bloom.

This was the final massive hurdle into becoming a published author and you have all been a part of making that happen. For that, my thanks go to the moon and back. It hasn't been easy juggling this campaign in addition to my studies ramping up. It was a massive learning experience on how to do crowdfunding, (and how to do it a bit better next time!) as well as promoting myself.

So, to friends, family, fellow theatre kids, fellow students who are also writing epic stories, and to the honorable anonymous who have contributed to the genesis of what I hope to be a fantastical saga for the ages, thank you again for being here at the finish line.

It means more to me than you realize. The only thing I hope to do now, is to put a signed copy in your hands.

Ka kite and start scanning the bookshelves!

Hi all!

Thank you to all of my Donaters so far!

Here's a sneak peek of a potential poster that you may soon find cropping up around town!

My Radio One Interview from a few weeks back!

Hi all!

Thanks to everyone who's donated so far!

This morning I got up bright and early for my second interview over the radio waves, which I will soon reveal in due time.

For now, in case you missed, here's a video on my small Youtube channel where I discuss the campaign before it even started!

Big thanks to Zac Hoffman and the crew at Radio One for having me on that morning, super fun to hang in that space!

Listen to the interview below and don't forget to donate! Time's running out for you to read my book!

11% met is crazy! But we've still got a way to go yet.

This coming Monday, tune in to Otago Access Radio at 7:20am where you can hear me talk about my book and the campaign!

Over the weekend I'll also put up some info about the book's story and its characters, but for now you can learn more about them at:

See you all later, and spread the word!

How it Started (and how it's going)

Sometime during the year of 2018, I was working at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. I was working in the food and beverage restaurant at the gorgeous Art of Animation Resort. It has been a highlight of my life and a story to be shared another day. In short, it was an easy place to be inspired. The bus trips to and from work were frequent and long, plenty of time to daydream.

And when you have enough time to daydream, at least one of those daydreams may become an idea. In a tiny black notebook small enough to fit in my pocket, I jotted down the faintest idea of a world, and not only that, a story within that world.

So then came forth three main characters, then four, and finally “The Eight” as I like to call them. But for now, in my novel, you’ll be warmly acquainted with Marcus, his step-sister Theresa, and Ronin, a mercenary on the run.

When I returned to NZ after the trip of lifetime in the States, I sat down (with virtually no writing experience or credentials) and scribbled down the first draft of “The Kindling”. The first instalment of “The Starlight Symphony” saga, it was about as bad as first drafts can be. Believe me, you will never see that first draft (I’m confident I have it tucked away in some folder never to see the light of day!)

Today, after a lot of edits and a lot of life in between, the final manuscript is polished and ready for publication!

Fortunately, you’ve now arrived at the final stage to bring it to life!

Thanks for reading!
