The Friend of My Friend
The Creative Projects Journal | Film
Overview
About the Project:
The Friend of my Friend is a short film following Taylor and Margo - who are both friends of a friend. When Finley, their only point of connection, dies right before their group trip to New York, the girls realize they’re as good as strangers. Left in an awkward situation, the pair set off to scatter Finley's ashes; struggling to navigate grief, plane tickets and the nature of their relationship.
Why?
With most of us only recently graduated from High School, we’ve come to realize how much relationships tend to gravitate around convenience. With a lot of people fatigued after the crazy covid-enfused years, we often struggle to reach out, feeling guilty for letting friendships slip away. The film aims to ask: what will you fight for? And what will you let go? And whatever that is, maybe that’s ok.
The passion project of a group of students, we are looking to raise funds to cover gas/travel, food for our small (but amazing) team, festival submissions and hopefully a bit of koha for those who are helping us along the way.
We plan to start production in April, and have been very busy with pre-production in the meantime.
