Spectacle

The Project
Spectacle presents: Spectacle is a dynamic, immersive, participatory show spanning several mediums that attempts to remove the limitations of the usual gallery experience. Likened to a modern day version of the “Happening” the show is made up of six core Ōtepoti/Dunedin based artists, and seven collaborators, each reinterpreting the theme Spectacle within their chosen medium - conceptual art, dance, digital art, installation, music, and visual art. Between the shows we invite the public to participate in the creation of an installation which will be unveiled at the final show. The shows will be a visual feast with live performances, each differing with evolutions of some of the works enticing you to attend both events. This will be the first in a series of Spectacle events and one not to be missed.
We are working with the Dunedin Dream Brokerage to find a venue, and have been fortuitous enough to receive funding from the DCC Arts Grant and DCC Creative Communities Scheme, enabling the commission of works, covering initial costs. This will be a FREE event to maximise accessibility, so we still need your support to realise the full potential of this project.
Your donation will allow us to promote the show, make it look and sound spectacular, and pay fair wages to the production team, who will be live streaming the event; so no matter where you are you will have the opportunity to attend.
Think of your donation as pre-purchasing a ticket to benefit the greater community.
