The Project
Sick Attraction is an upcoming student short film about past lovers who reunite after one’s health rapidly declines, with a condition that can only be cured by the other.
Charlotte grapples with the decision to involve Mikey in her life again after witnessing Mikey's involvement in the death of her younger sister. They must both face the truth about the incident, while also saving Mikey from the same fate.

The Details
We’re currently at the stages of Pre-production, but we need your help to fund our film Production shooting in August. We're raising funds to complete our drama/romance short film, Sick Attraction, a student-led short film crafted by a talented, small crew with an exciting narrative and distinct ‘Y2K’ visual style.
Through Charlotte and Mikey's attractive on-screen friction in sickness and in health, the drama and the romantic aspects of their past-present-future relationship will draw the audience into the encapsulating narrative. The 2000s-centred makeup, wardrobe, and hair design will make for a dramatic and beloved piece of media, hoping to reach the large audience of people in love with this decade.
As well as this, our vision uses the confronting themes of love, death, and sickness. Using our position as creatives, we intend to make the world a better place with storytelling. By navigating Charlotte, Mikey, and Meila's unique challenges, we hope to spread awareness, shedding light on and creating a safe space to talk about- the people and communities who have been affected by illness.
The Impact
This is an all-or-nothing Boosted campaign, which means we don’t receive any of the funding if we don't reach our target goal. We are appreciative of every donation, everything counts!
By supporting our project, you are contributing to the wider student-led film scene in New Zealand, helping other people to gain insight and connect with projects they wouldn't otherwise have known about. By donating, you are allowing us to reach wider audiences and to tell our story on a larger platform.
