The Project

We've been selected to represent Aotearoa at BIBU 2022 - A biennial festival of performing arts for children and youth in Helsingborg, Sweden. We need your help to get there!

Out of 200 international companies that applied, we are one of six that have been chosen by an international selection committee of artists and leaders from a global representation of indigenous peoples. We will also contribute to an international panel discussion themed reconciliation through art.

The show that we will be touring is Shel We by Tupua Tigafua.

Inspired by the works of internationally renowned author Shel Silverstein, Shel We is an invitation. It's an enchanting, playfully intriguing and visually stunning dance show created by Tupua Tigafua, a highly accomplished dancer and choreographer who has had an illustrious career dancing for some of Aotearoa’s creative elite. Tupua is one of the most ingenious storytellers of this generation.

Shel Silverstein was a critically acclaimed writer who wrote books such as Where the sidewalk ends and The Giving Tree. As well as iconic ballads Sylvia's Mother for Doctor Hook and A boy named Sue for Johnny cash.  Shel’s 'off beat' style and brilliant use of metaphorical imagery in his poetry and illustrations have influenced Tupua's choreography. Ultimately delivering a tribute to his parents, his family and the environment in Tāmaki Makaurau that has inspired him over the years.

Help us get to Sweden!

The funds from this Boosted campaign will contribute towards our overall touring costs and an extra performance for the Pacific and New Zealand communities in Stockholm, Sweden.

Thank you for your support.
