Project Updates
New Press!
NZ Herald (via the Bush Telegraph) has published a new bit on "Shadow of the Deathbird!" Read about it below, and thanks again for your support. It means a lot to me.
Teaser Poster
Thanks so much to everyone who's supported us thus far - some of you twice! Please continue to spread the word. As another token of our appreciation for you, I present the teaser poster for "Shadow of the Deathbird."
Lens Testing
In the event we raise our entire Boosted goal, there will be an additional stretch goal which will open the door for more crew and gear for Shadow of the Deathbird.
The main addition will be a cohesive set of lenses from Portsmouth in Wellington. They're a terrific company who helps filmmakers big and small get their projects off the ground. I went there Monday and brought along the camera we're using for production to see what focal lengths would serve Deathbird best. If you're curious, it's the 20, 28, 32, 40, and 65.
Thank you so...
After a couple long weeks doing TV + commercials on the road, I'm finally settling in at home, editing the shooting script, and finalising the schedule for Shadow of the Deathbird.
The original plan was to begin production on October 8th (a special date as it's the same day we began production on my feature directorial debut, Come Morning), but sentiment aside, October is approaching quickly, and because the budget is tight and the vision really, really big, I think the film would benefit from a few more weeks of prep. The plan is now to shoot later in October but still have the film complete and premiere before Christmas.
While I've spent most of my post-Boosted days working on other projects, I did have a chance to do a bit of prep in Wellington this week, not least of all visiting Weta Workshop yesterday morning to talk with the swordsmith who crafted the prop weapon for Deathbird's opening sequence. It's not a custom build (we couldn't afford that), but he's renting us an old short sword he created years ago - it perfectly suits the sequence in the script. Can't wait for you to see it.
Again, I want thank you all for giving to the project. Trust that every, single penny will be stretched to the nth degree and end up onscreen. It means so much that you believe in me and my work, and I won't let you down. Wish me and my team all the luck.
