New video: Affirmed in the Bookshop!
Hello beautiful supporters!
Wow! We're almost to our first fundraising target, and to celebrate, we dropped a new music video for one of the original songs from Too Much Hair. 'Affirmed in the Bookshop' is about the euphoria that comes from people using your pronouns. And the joy of shopping for books, of course.
We had a blast filming this video and hope you enjoy it. If you do, we'd appreciate you sharing it with other folks who might need a dash of queer joy in their lives.
Thanks to everyone at Good Books in Wellington for being wonderfully affirming and keeping us well stocked with queer literature and letting us be very silly in the shop. Extra special thanks to Becks for sticking around after hours and making a guest appearance as our affirming bookseller.
Thanks again for supporting us. Every dollar, share, follow, and like helps us get closer to our goals, and we appreciate it more than we can say.
big queer hugs,
Jess (for the whole crew)
We're making waves!
We did it! Thanks to you beautiful people, we smashed our first target and unlocked our stretch goal!
The first goal is all-or-nothing, so we set it low to make sure we didn't miss out. But y'all came through for us, and we are eternally grateful. Now, every extra dollar we raise is more peace of mind and shallower dips into our savings to get us across the ponds to Fringe. To those who've already donated, we'd love your help spreading the word - share the campaign on socials, follow, like, and share our posts on @butchmermaidproductions and other platforms, and tell your friends.
Other news...
We're in the Fringe trailer! Forty shows out of the 3000+ are featured, and we're one of them - see if you can spot our silly faces.
Our NYC premier of Antonio! is official! We'll be at The Tank, an NYC home for emerging artists, from 25-28 July. If you're in NYC, please come to the show (and tell your friends!). If you're elsewhere, we'll be live streaming the final performance - stay tuned for details about a lunchtime viewing event in Wellington on 29 July (or you can book a livestream ticket for wherever you are in the world).
A Bit Too Much Hair made the BroadwayWorld Pick of the Fringe musicals edition! They combed through the 300 musical and cabaret shows to pick the top ten they're most excited about, and our gender euphoric musical chaos made the list (alongside a new work from the musical director of Hamilton, no big deal).
From the bottom of our salty pirate hearts, thank you for believing in us.

PS. Thanks / blame to Felix for inspiring the nautical puns.
It's the final countdown!
Twenty four hours to go and we're almost to our stretch goal! Thank you to everyone who's donated so far. We appreciate you more than we can say.
If you're able to help us in these final hours by sharing the campaign and talking a bit about why you're backing us, that would be a huge boost (ba-dum-tsh) to our fundraising target.
Here's some of the gang talking about why we're doing this mahi:
"Queer representation matters. Even when you don’t know you need it, when you’ve been out for two decades and have a supportive community and family. That’s what I think - I hope - we can give other queers with A Bit Too Much Hair and Antonio." - Ania
"Joy is a human right. Everyone deserves to feel euphoria. You deserve to be the you that you ARE, not the you everyone tells you you are." - William
"As someone who was late to the party on their own queer identity, I believe in the importance of positive representation. If I'd seen more people living joyously and free in their gender and sexuality when I was a kid, my life would probably look very different today." - Jess
From the bottom of our gay pirate-y hearts,
Jess (for the crew)
