The Project

Kia Ora,

I'm asking your help to produce my first ever art exhibition which has been in development for over a decade.

I have been Inspired by Gottfried Lindauer, Chuck Close, C.F. Goldie, Platon and other artists who focus on the face, taking their concepts further by building my own camera & techniques to increase the detail captured allowing for larger than life printing with no loss of detail.

It will will feature;

  • 10 large 35x44” (890mm x 1118mm) Head Shots with incredible detail
  • Previously unseen 8x10" (203 x 245mm) Polaroids
  • 8x10" (203 x 245mm) Darkroom Prints
  • A selection of portraits taken at parties over the years.

For many years I have been driven to capture a typology of human faces, beginning with 35mm, then 8x10" instant and traditional film, and most recently digital composites achieved by mounting a Nikon D800 onto the back of a Toyo 45C large format film camera.

My vision is 400 of these portraits, but I thought it was time for a modest selection of images to be seen in their full beauty, which simply isn't possible online.

Exhibition Details:
Art Hole (Inside Darkroom).
336 St Asaph Street
Christchurch
Opening night: Tuesday 15 November 5:30PM

None of these works are for sale, but I will have an operational studio present during the whole exhibition where people can commission portraits.
