The Project
19-year-old Frank watches his favourite cartoon to escape change. As familiar voices play on the screen, memories of growing up enter his mind. Caught between nostalgia and the now, Frank faces an unavoidable truth: to move forward, he must finally let go of the past.
Think of “I saw the TV glow” merged with “Adventure time”. Mind of Egress is a coming of age mixed media film that uses animation as a way to visualise how thoughts and emotions blend into reality. Frank tries to connect who he once was, but that version of himself is outdated. It is the painful state of mind of existing in between two realities and the emotional overspill when you are no longer able to suppress change.

The Impact
The core themes of this film are change, escapism, growth and acceptance. The feeling like you have to let go of something is a very isolating and scary emotion to deal with. This film is important, especially to young adults in order to feel seen and comforted. While this film proposes the idea that “There are times when change becomes unavoidable, " it also leaves room for pondering “Can opposing states of mind positively coexist?”
