LUMA Queenstown
Luma Queenstown | Visual Art
Overview
LUMA is an award-winning arts and culture festival based in Queenstown, and we're asking for your support to bring our travelling artists to the Fesitval.
Taking place on June 2nd - 5th 2017, LUMA is back to light up Queenstown Gardens, with pop-up events held around the town centre and an art walk on the Marine Parade. Last year, the free festival spanned three evenings of illuminated art, light sculptures and entertainment. As well as pieces from Angus Muir, TomTom, SILO, and a sculpture trail curated by Toi O Tahuna, we celebrated the creativity of the art community, both local and New Zealand, with live music, performances and an outdoor cinema.
LUMA17 is almost here and the LUMA team has gathered a larger group of participants than ever before to deliver a brighter, more exciting light festival to Queenstown Gardens for Queens Birthday Weekend. LUMA is a completely free event and all of our funding comes from trusts, local government and local small businesses collaborating to build a family-friendly creative showcase for four days in the deep south.
We are looking for supporters who can help us to ensure our budget can sustain the cost of travel for our artists and their support teams - this includes flights for people and equipment but also some of the smaller details like hiring trailers and moving stuff around whilst we build the event. By making a donation to our Boosted campaign, you are lending a helping hand to the growth of the event.
It's a huge project and it involves many people, all of whom have given up a large amount of time over the last year to bring LUMA together.
LUMA17 would love you to come on board. Every dollar counts as LUMA draws near and we nail down the final details. We already have an amazing group of supporters and we thank them for their continued partnership and their contributions of time and energy. You guys are amazing - you know who you are
Thanks for your support! Please share our Boosted campaign with your friends and networks - our event relies on the generous support of the community.
The LUMA crew look forward to welcoming the Queenstown community and all visitors to the Gardens this year wherever you may be coming from.
