?
1918 by Le Moana is a response to the devastating Spanish Influenza Pandemic of 1918. Presented through live performance, this work explores the historical events around the disease which claimed the lives of almost a third of the total population of Samoa and became a catalyst for Samoa's resistance against the New Zealand colonial government.?
1918 premiered to sell out audiences in Wellington during the MEASINA festival 2015, then remounted for a performance season at the Mangere Arts Centre in Auckland and was recently presented at the New Zealand University of Samoa during February 2016.
We have since been selected to present "1918" at the San Diego New Zealand Fringe Festival from 23rd June - 3rd July 2016.
