The Project

OVERVIEW

I SEE YOU is a short film, partially funded by the NZFC Fresh Shorts program. It tells the story of a young Mum struggling to accept her baby who has Down Syndrome. Director Briar March, and producer, Caroline Hutchison are mothers to sons with Down syndrome. They both have experienced the issues that I SEE YOU explores. The internal question at the heart of the film is very personal, “How can I see my child for who they are?” This is a timely film to make. Eugenics, pro-life/pro-choice, and advances in genetic testing are all hot topics. We wish to make a challenging and heart-warming film that has us questioning our own judgments and expectations ultimately supporting us to accept and embrace people for who they really are.

HOW WILL YOUR DONATION BE USED?

Making a short film is an ambitious task and we really need all the support we can get. With our $15,000 target, we will be able to finance the post-production of I SEE YOU. This financial support will allow us to invest in the sound design, colour grade, and music, all integral parts of our project which will elevate its success. You'll also be pleased to know that all donations made to this project are tax-deductible and once you have donated you will receive a receipt for your tax records.

WHY CROWD FUNDING?

Crowdfunding is a wonderful way to get around the challenge of financing a short film. It is also a brilliant opportunity to include audiences in the filmmaking journey and expand the conversation around the important issues in this film. As we progress with this project we'll endeavor to keep you updated on any screenings and related events. Please know that this is an 'all or nothing' campaign. If we don't make our target we don't receive any of the funds. So every donation no matter what the size counts.
