Filemu

Filemu is an online / digital / print space where conversations centred on peace and co-dreaming by us, our peers and our wider community can be planted.

Edited and produced by creatives, graphic designer Iosua Ah-Hao and writer Taualofa Totua, Filemu's main mission in a world of noise is to platform what helps our communities feel settled. Our mission is to use zine-making, monthly newsletters, a website and collaborative creative projects as a form of community-care, with journal prompts and activities for our peers to explore what being safe and sound - Filemu - is for them. Filemu is a space designed with our Indigenous, Pacific, Moana Oceania, Queer and Disabled folk in mind. 

Funding raised through the Moana x Boosted campaign will go towards:

- Building our website and online presence:
Paying for program subscriptions such as Squarespace, Adobe and Canva as we'd love to use a website to publish monthly newsletters, profile fellow creatives as well as a place where people can place orders for zines.

- Zine production: 
The costs to print, package and deliver are beyond our means and although our last zine was fully funded by us, it was a confusing and expensive financial process. We would like to produce two zines using the funds from a boosted campaign. 

- Zine collaboration:
Filemu’s mission and values rely on collaboration with our community and we would like to invite 5 community creatives to contribute to one of the zines we produce. We believe in remunerating people for their time and energy so this would be another place funds would be diverted to.

- MAKE Competition: 
We created a competition after our first zine where we asked our community to ‘MAKE’ something that brought them peace and we had so many amazing entries. This was also fully funded by us - we gave out cash prizes and gift packages to our top two picks. We would like to host another competition in the future.
