The Project
Double Bogey is a 10-12 minute kiwi comedy short film following Josh Josherson as he attempts to beat his evil old neighbour John Johnerson--who has won the local golfing championship for the past 5 years, ever since Josh's Dad died. Double Bogey is a story of hope, community and the good ol' kiwi spirit of never giving up.
Double Bogey isn’t just a comedy, it’s a story of hope. It’s a story of how one individual - Josh, a bogan from the middle of nowhere with no big life prospects and how through determination regardless of being battered down many, many times he rises up above it all to show everyone around him that he has what it takes.
The Team
Double Bogey is the brainchild of our director, Allie Brennan, and is being produced by Alex Pratt. Our cinematographer is Grace Chan, our 1st AD is Alyssa Knaggs, and our editor is Marshall Bragg.
Our crew consists of Preston Watsney and Zane Robinson in our Art department, Quinn Morgan and Alex Hughes in our camera department, Cohen Brooker on sound, and Oliva Donaldson and Everett Parker on lighting.
We're supported by our tutors, Micheal Cox (who frequent Boosted supporters may remember from The Lighthouse), and Ebed Pohl, from Yoobee Colleges in Wellington.
The Funding
Our budget is mainly focused on paying our actors to provide a quality performance, and on our art department, which will really help our film come alive; in particular costuming and some key props will be vital.
We also need to feed our cast and crew while on set, and rent some of our equipment.
The Impact
In short, Double Bogey isn’t just a bogan comedy, it’s also a story of love, laughter, friendship and care. We want our audience to go away not just thinking ‘oh, that was a funny film’ but also acknowledging the importance of community and how showing up for one another really does make a big difference.
