Arthouse Revolution
Arthouse Revolution | Visual Art
Overview
Art, by the People, for the People!
An art gallery with a difference! A unique and free community based project, showcasing the work of local amateur artists.
Arthouse Revolution will be a modern, contemporary pop-up art gallery, constructed from a re-purposed shipping container.
Why: Some of our most talented local artists don't have an outlet, or never make it into our galleries because of the costs associated with securing exhibition space. Arthouse Revolution aims to make art as freely accessible as possible, and in doing so, grow the profile of our local arts community.
Who: Arthouse Revolution is the brainchild of Tauranga based photographer and artist, Fraser Toulmin
Participation is open to all amateur artists from within the Bay of Plenty, provided submissions meet the criteria set by the Project Team.
Arthouse Revolution guarantees at least 25% of all exhibiting artists will be aged between 14 - 25 years.
There are no fees or commission normally associated with traditional galleries. Any artist who successfully sells their work will instead be asked to make a donation to the project.
When and Where: Arthouse Revolution will open to the public at the 2017 Tauranga Art Festival, before visiting Rotorua and Whakatane.
Tauranga 19 OCT - 08 NOV.
Rotorua 09 - 29 NOV.
Whakatane 30 NOV - 14 DEC.
How: Artists submit their work to the project team for consideration. A panel of accomplished local artists and industry professionals will then select the final pieces for public exhibition..
