Final Girls Just Want To Have Fun

Final Girls Just Want To Have Fun is a 10 minute short slasher/incel-horror film that explores how women are represented negatively within cinematography - her appearance and beauty often over-sexualised regardless of the scene she finds herself in - and how this phenomenon is seen clearest in the horror genre. If she’s meant to be running for her life, why does she pose for the camera? The film follows the titular Final Girl, as she grapples with the aftermath of the Masked Killer’s attack on her high-school prom. Dragged into flashbacks in the hours following, she must keep a keen eye out for the news that she is finally safe. Final Girls Just Want To Have Fun explores representation of women both in front of and behind the camera, with the majority of the crew being women.
