People Like Us - Pilot Episode

We want to make the pilot episode of “People Like Us”, a 10 part scripted comedy series that centres on two flats. The 6 central characters are neighbours and friends whose lives intersect through relationships, activities and disability. The world of the series also includes their parents, siblings, support workers and house staff. Our pilot epsiode, “Secret Santa” will act as proof of concept for the series, but also work as a stand alone film. Disability is a great leveller. All sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds with all sorts of world views are thrust together through common circumstance rather than shared ground. This makes disabled people and their families some of the most adaptable, patient, solution-focused and tolerant in their world. Also some of the funniest. In real life this cast are mates. They've worked together for many years, putting on shows and making film projects.
