I'm a Ruapehu-based writer and outdoors enthusiast. I've published four books, including Fire & Ice: Secrets, histories, treasures and mysteries of Tongariro National Park and Solo: Backcountry adventuring in Aotearoa New Zealand (MUP, 2022). I've recently finished writing my next book, Great Hearts: First Ladies of Aoraki Mount Cook. I'm usually found somewhere near a mountain or a lake, and I'm passionate about bringing the history of our wilderness spaces to life through storytelling and contemporary narratives. In 2022 I completed a Masters in Creative Writing with first-class honours, with a creative thesis that explored fundamentalism and rigid thinking. In my spare time I love multiday tramping, skiing, ski touring, mountaineering, scuba diving and stamp collecting (I have made up one of these things).
