Formed in 2010, the Scholars Baroque Aotearoa are a chamber choir based in Tauranga and dedicated to informed performances of period music with an emphasis on stylistic excellence and superior sound. Performing stunning concerts throughout the year, the Scholars’ repertoire spans the history of choral music from early sixteenth century masterpieces to thrilling twenty-first century contemporaries.
The Scholars are led by Artistic and Musical Director, Chalium Poppy. We enjoy collaborating with a range of New Zealand soloists, orchestras, and performance ensembles, and we have frequently supported the careers of young soloists including those studying at the University of Waikato’s School of Music.
